A couple of years ago, we organised a fundraising event to sponsor a poultry at Bandawe school for the Hearing impaired. It was a relatively short, but very wet run. Through it we helped Malita’s school build a poultry. Immediately afterwards the staff at Bandawe started growing chickens. The aim was to be more independent with meat supplies.
While being at Bandawe we checked the status of the project. The chickens are numerous and in good health. The students take care of them.
For the future the school would like to have also egg laying chickens, so that their diet can be a bit more various. They still have to find funds for it, but we are glad to see that the entrepreneurial spirit of this school has not changed through the years.
